# The Gate Scanner, in depth

> Walk one made-up list of 12 products through every Gate Scanner count, verdict, limit, and error.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Scenario for this page:** You type the 12 made-up codes from the table below, B0EXAMPL01 to B0EXAMPL12, into the Gate Scanner box. For the Vault pick, you tick the demo store's two Darn Tough sock listings. The result pictures use the demo store's finished scan of 12 codes from the day before: 5 Approved, 3 Needs approval (the Poké Ball clip set has an apply link), 2 Blocked, and 2 errors (B0EXAMPL11 and B0EXAMPL12, not found). Its other 10 codes are demo products, not the table's made-up ones. Scout's scan of 9 finds carries the Scout badge. Find them in the demo store under Gate Scanner > Recent scans.

**Gate Scanner** tells you if Amazon will let you sell a product before you buy it. Press **G** anywhere in the app to open it.

An **ASIN** is Amazon's 10-character product code. This guide follows 12 made-up codes. Five come back **Approved**, three come back **Needs approval**, two come back **Blocked**, and two come back **Error**.

5 + 3 + 2 + 2 = 12. When the scan is done, the **All** chip shows "12". That 12 is the whole list.

| Code | Product | Brand | Verdict on the row |
| - | - | - | - |
| B0EXAMPL01 | BrightMix blender | BrightMix | **Approved** |
| B0EXAMPL02 | Red Hauler toy truck | HaulToy | **Needs approval** |
| B0EXAMPL03 | Night Lamp | GlowCo | **Blocked** |
| B0EXAMPL04 | Mystery Cup | none | **Error** |
| B0EXAMPL05 | Blue Whisk | BrightMix | **Approved** |
| B0EXAMPL06 | Soft Bear | PlushDen | **Needs approval** |
| B0EXAMPL07 | Steel Pan | PanWorks | **Approved** |
| B0EXAMPL08 | Tiny Drum | BeatBox | **Blocked** |
| B0EXAMPL09 | Glass Jar | JarHome | **Approved** |
| B0EXAMPL10 | Wood Spoon | SpoonCo | **Error** |
| B0EXAMPL11 | Cotton Towel | SoftHome | **Approved** |
| B0EXAMPL12 | Mini Fan | AirToy | **Needs approval** |

* Approved codes: 01, 05, 07, 09, 11. That is 5.
* Needs approval codes: 02, 06, 12. That is 3.
* Blocked codes: 03 and 08. That is 2.
* Error codes: 04 and 10. That is 2.

The same 12 are used in every section below. A short page sits at [Gate Scanner](https://docs.sourcedock.io/source/gate-scanner.md).

## How the 12 codes get into the box

The empty page says **Gate Scanner**. Under that it says **Know what you're allowed to sell before you buy it.** The box holds the list. You can type, paste, drop a file, or pick from the Vault. Scout can also send codes to the same checker, as shown below.

You type the 12 codes, one on each line. A comma, a semicolon, a space, or a tab also splits codes. The corner of the box shows "12". The button says "Scan 12 ASINs", and the hint beside the buttons says "12 ready".

![The Gate Scanner box with the codes B0EXAMPL01 to B0EXAMPL12, one on each line. The corner says 12. The button says Scan 12 ASINs. The hint at the right says 12 ready.](https://mintcdn.com/sourcedock/GhYYsXkbSDkrf4P8/images/deep-dives/gate-scanner-in-depth/01-twelve-codes-box.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=GhYYsXkbSDkrf4P8\&q=85\&s=d88f0c883d8c4b05289323145b28486d)

The 12 codes: the box after you type them. Notice the corner says 12, the button says Scan 12 ASINs, and the hint says 12 ready.

The corner prints the plain number. The button and the hint add commas. At 1,200 codes the corner says "1200", the button says "Scan 1,200 ASINs", and the hint says "1,200 ready".

A repeat is kept once. You paste B0EXAMPL01 twice and the other 11 once. The box still counts "12", and the first copy is the one that stays.

A code must be 10 letters or numbers, and it must have a number in it. A 10-letter word with no number is left out. Small letters are made capital.

A product link works when it is Amazon's own product link. A Keepa or camelcamelcamel product link works too. Any other link, like a store page, is left out. One bad link shows "1 link is not an Amazon product link. Use the ASIN, or a link like amazon.com/dp/B0EXAMPLE1." Two bad links start with "2 links are not Amazon product links." The good codes in the same paste still count.

![The Gate Scanner box with the 12 codes and a store link on the last line. The button says Scan 12 ASINs. The line under it says: 1 link is not an Amazon product link. Use the ASIN, or a link like amazon.com/dp/B0EXAMPLE1.](https://mintcdn.com/sourcedock/GhYYsXkbSDkrf4P8/images/deep-dives/gate-scanner-in-depth/02-twelve-codes-bad-link.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=GhYYsXkbSDkrf4P8\&q=85\&s=1c1d88433cd4a7b57471d0f2b4af36c0)

The 12 codes plus one store link: the line under the box. Notice it says 1 link is not an Amazon product link, and the button still says Scan 12 ASINs.

**Paste** reads your clipboard and adds it under what is already in the box. If the browser blocks the clipboard, the toast says **Paste failed** and **Unable to read the clipboard. Please paste manually.** **Clear** empties the box and sets the source back to a paste.

A very long paste, over 150,000 characters, is not sent. When you press the scan button, the box says **Input too long. Please paste fewer ASINs.**

### A CSV file

You drop a file on the box. The file name must end in `.csv`, `.tsv`, or `.txt`. Any other file, like a spreadsheet workbook, is refused. The toast says **Use a CSV file** and **Spreadsheet exports should be saved as CSV first.**

The file is read for codes the same way as the box. Your file `toy-list.csv` holds the 12 codes. The line under the box says "toy-list.csv: 12 ASINs ready to scan".

A file with no codes shows **No ASINs found** and **Drop a CSV or a list that contains B0... codes or Amazon links.** Text in the box with no codes shows **No ASINs found - paste B0... codes or Amazon links** beside the buttons.

### From the Vault

**From Vault** opens your saved products. The search box says **Search your Vault**, and it looks in the code, the name, and the brand. You tick the blender and the toy truck. The line says "2 selected", and the button says "Scan 2 ASINs".

![From Vault, with Darn Tough typed in Search your Vault. Two rows are ticked: Darn Tough Vermont men's socks B096M1D857 and Darn Tough Vermont women's sock B008RSEWXS. The line says 2 selected. The button says Scan 2 ASINs.](https://mintcdn.com/sourcedock/GhYYsXkbSDkrf4P8/images/deep-dives/gate-scanner-in-depth/03-two-socks-from-vault.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=GhYYsXkbSDkrf4P8\&q=85\&s=124538374c203e13027306c9f5291b68)

Two Darn Tough socks: picked from the demo store's Vault (the picture uses these two in place of the blender and the toy truck). Notice the line says 2 selected and the button says Scan 2 ASINs.

**Select visible** ticks every row the search is showing. It does not tick rows the search hid. Untick it to clear those rows again.

The list is the products your Vault shows, newest touched first, up to 2,000. A product past that 2,000 is not in this list, even if you search for it. The screen does not print the 2,000.

* Empty Vault: **Nothing in the Vault yet. Paste ASINs or drop a supplier sheet instead.**
* Search miss: **No Vault ASINs match that search.**
* Load miss: **Could not load Vault ASINs. Try again in a moment.**

The names on these rows are names already saved. Opening the list does not start a new product lookup. After the scan, Amazon's name is used when there is one. The saved name shows only when Amazon's is blank.

### From Scout

On Scout, a row's menu has **Run gate scan now** when the row has no verdict yet. It has **Scan again** when the row already has one. For checked rows, open the arrow next to **Gate scan all** and pick **Run gate scan now on selected finds**. On a phone, it is in the bar's **⋯** menu.

These send the codes to the same checker, and Scout stays on Scout. The scan does not open here. It shows up under **Recent scans** with a **Scout** badge.

One code takes about 1 second at your own pace, so the time words say "under a minute". For one row, the toast says "Scanning 1, under a minute." For checked rows, the same kind of line sits beside **Gate scan all**. On a phone it comes as a toast.

**Gate scan all** is the other door. The button shows "Gate scan all 40". The 40 is how many finds your Scout list matches. It is not how many get checked.

Here is that 40, made up:

* 3 finds are in another country. They are left out first.
* 2 of the rest are already in a scan that is queued or running.
* 4 of the rest were checked in the last 7 days.
* 40 − 3 − 2 − 4 = 31. Those 31 are the ones to scan.

A repeat of the same code in your country is kept once. It is not added to any of those counts.

The top of the confirm says "All 40 matching selected". The line under it is built in this order: "31 to scan, under a minute. 4 checked in the last 7 days are skipped. 2 are already in a scan. 3 are in another country." The 40 and the 31 are different on purpose. The button counted matches, and the line counts what will run.

The 31 move at about 3.5 codes a second, because this is a background list. 31 ÷ 3.5 = 8.86, which rounds up to 9 seconds. Under 60 seconds, the words are "under a minute".

**Check those again** shows when some finds were checked in the last 7 days. Tick it and the 4 recent ones go back in. Then 31 + 4 = 35 to scan. 35 ÷ 3.5 = 10 seconds, still "under a minute".

**Start scan** queues it, and a toast says "Scanning 31, under a minute." Only one Gate scan all can be queued or running for a store at a time. While one is, the line says **A Gate scan all is already running for this store.** and the button says **Open scan**. **Open scan** brings you to the Gate Scanner and opens that scan.

If nothing is left to send, the line says **Nothing new to scan.** and **Start scan** stays off.

A trial with 20 free checks left and 31 to scan adds "The trial has 20 free checks left. The rest wait for a card." The first 20 run. The rest is 31 − 20 = 11, and those wait. This Scout line always says "a card", even on a trial that unlocks by starting the plan. The Gate Scanner's own notice uses the plan words, below.

## What one check asks Amazon

Each code costs one check. The check uses the Amazon account you have selected. Take the blender, B0EXAMPL01. Amazon is asked two things.

First, Amazon is asked if you may list it as New. This is Amazon's listing-restrictions check, for the New condition only. Used, refurbished, and collectible are not asked. Amazon's answer is a list of restrictions.

* The list is empty. The verdict is **Approved**, and you can sell it as New. The blender is this case.
* The list is missing or broken. The verdict is **Error**, with the words **Unexpected response from Amazon**. An empty list is the only clean yes. A broken answer is never read as a yes.
* A reason says you are not eligible. The verdict is **Blocked**, and any apply link is dropped.
* A reason says the code is not in this marketplace. The verdict is **Error**, with **ASIN not found in marketplace**. It is not shown as **Needs approval**.
* A reason says approval is required. The verdict is **Needs approval**. A link is kept only when Amazon sent one you can open.
* Any other reason, or a reason with no code, is **Error**, with **Unrecognized restriction response**.

Not eligible is checked first, so it wins over an approval reason on the same product.

A failed call is also **Error**.

* Amazon says the code is missing (HTTP 404). The words are **ASIN not found in marketplace**. Mystery Cup, B0EXAMPL04, is this row.
* Any other HTTP error shows **API error:** plus that number. For example, a 429 that is still there after a few tries shows "API error: 429".
* The call fails outright. The words are **Request failed**. Wood Spoon, B0EXAMPL10, is this row.

Second, Amazon's catalog is asked for the name and the brand, 20 codes at a time. A name SourceDock already has saved can show first. This lookup does not decide the verdict. The verdict can land before the name does, and the name fills in after. If there is no name, the live row shows the code itself, and the **Brand** cell shows "-".

The check does not create a listing, and it does not buy the product. It does not click in Seller Central for you. It does not ask Keepa, and it does not spend a Keepa token. The yes or no comes only from Amazon's restriction list.

One list you send from the box can hold 10,000 codes. A list of 10,001 or more is refused whole, and nothing is checked. The card and the toast say "Please keep a single scan to 10,000 ASINs. Split larger lists across scans - they queue and run back to back." Scout's **Gate scan all** has no such cap.

No seller account: once you type codes, the hint says **Connect an Amazon seller account to scan**. The empty page also shows a card. It says **No Amazon account connected** and **Connect your Amazon Seller Central account** **to scan for restrictions.**

A store whose Amazon link was removed or stopped gets **No Amazon seller account connected. Connect a seller account to run restriction checks.** If SourceDock cannot read your allowance, the words are **We couldn't check your scan allowance just now. Please try again in a minute.** Both come up as a scan that could not start, shown at the end of this guide.

## The live check

You press "Scan 12 ASINs". The box is replaced by the live desk.

Your own list moves at about 4.5 codes a second. The first time guess uses that pace. 12 ÷ 4.5 = 2.67, which rounds up to 3 seconds.

The worker looks for new scans about every 3 seconds. So for a moment the big number can sit at "0", next to "of 12".

While it waits, the label says **Queued - starting**. If two older scans of yours are still waiting in line, the label says "Queued - 2 ahead". The 2 counts only scans that are waiting. A scan of yours that is already running does not count, so **Queued - starting** can show while another one runs.

At 0 answers, the speed part of the line says **timing**. The time guess uses 12 ÷ 3 = 4 codes a second, so time left is 12 ÷ 4 = 3 seconds. 12 seconds or less reads **almost done**, so the line says "timing · almost done".

Then the label changes to **Scanning**. Say 8 answers have landed and 2 seconds have passed.

* The big number is "8", next to "of 12". The 8 is how many verdicts are on the page. The 12 is the list SourceDock queued.
* 8 ÷ 12 = 0.667. The bar fills that share, 66.7 percent of the track.
* Speed is 8 ÷ 2 = 4.0, so the line says "4.0 ASINs/sec".
* 4 codes are left. 4 ÷ 4.0 = 1 second, so the rest of the line is **almost done**.

Amazon is asked in list order, so the first 8 answers are the first 8 codes, 01 through 08.

* Approved: 01, 05, 07. That is 3.
* Needs approval: 02, 06. That is 2.
* Blocked: 03, 08. That is 2.
* Error: 04. That is 1.

3 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 8. The tiles on the desk show those numbers while the scan runs: **Approved** "3", **Needs approval** "2", **Blocked** "2", and **Errors** "1". The chips and the result table are not on screen yet. The live feed sits in their place until the scan ends. The last 4 are still out: 09, 10, 11, 12.

### The live feed

The feed title is **Live verdicts**, with **newest first** beside it. The latest answer is at the top.

The dots say **approved**, **gated**, and **blocked**. **gated** is the same group as **Needs approval**. There is no dot for **Error**, but error rows still show in the feed with their **Error** badge.

On a wide screen each row has a 24-hour clock with seconds. A phone hides that clock. The product name is Amazon's name. With no name, you see the code.

Only the newest 40 rows show. Your 12 all fit, and a run of 2,000 still shows 40.

Under the 8 rows, two waiting rows shimmer. The feed never draws more than two, even when 4 are still out. Those two are the next codes in your list, B0EXAMPL09 and B0EXAMPL10.

The footer says "4 still in queue - verdicts append as Amazon responds". The 4 is 12 − 8. The other side says **Full table after this run**. When the last answer is in and the desk has not flipped yet, the footer says **Finishing up**.

Under the buttons, while it runs, the line says **Keeps running. Open it again from Recent scans.** If you started at 3:04 PM, it adds "· started 3:04 PM". That clock is hours and minutes, not the 24-hour clock on each row.

**Scan another** does not stop this run. It clears the desk so you can paste the next list. The 12 keep going, and you open them again from **Recent scans**.

**Cancel scan** stops the run. On a capped trial, checks that never got an answer are given back. That math is in the limits section. The page also asks the server every 5 seconds, so a dropped live link still fills in.

## When the 12 are done

The toast title is **Scan Complete**. The body is "Scanned 12 ASINs. 5 approved, 3 need approval, 2 blocked."

Add the toast: 5 + 3 + 2 = 10. The two errors are not in the toast, but the **Errors** chip shows "2". 10 + 2 = 12.

The label says **Scan complete**, and the big number is "12". If the run took 4 seconds, the words beside it are "in 4 sec". A minute and 5 seconds is written "1 min 05 sec". The word "of" shows while the scan runs, and on a finished scan only when the clock is 0.

The bar is now four parts of the same 12: 5, 3, 2, and 2, in the same order as the tiles.

* **Approved** "5"
* **Needs approval** "3"
* **Blocked** "2"
* **Errors** "2"

5 + 3 + 2 + 2 = 12.

![A card that says Scan complete, 12 of 12, a bar in green, amber, red and gray parts, then Approved 5, Needs approval 3, Blocked 2, Errors 2, a Scan another button, and 12 from paste.](https://mintcdn.com/sourcedock/sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI/images/deep-dives/gate-scanner-in-depth/05-scan-of-12-finished-desk.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI\&q=85\&s=a0e600d29f42beff68836349dab0c145)

The demo store's scan of 12: the finished desk. Notice the bar in four parts, Approved 5, Needs approval 3, Blocked 2, Errors 2, and 12 from paste.

The line under the buttons names the source. A typed or pasted list says "12 from paste". A CSV says "12 from CSV", and a Vault pick says "12 from Vault". When Scout's **Open scan** brings you here, it says "12 from Scout".

You can open the same scan later from **Recent scans**. The page counts an opened scan as a paste, so the line can say "12 from paste" even when the row badge says **Scout**. The badge is the source that was saved. The line is how this screen was filled.

![A card that says Scan complete, 9 in 36 sec, Approved 6, Needs approval 2, Blocked 1, Errors 0, and 9 from paste. Under it, Recent scans with an Oct 29 row of 9 marked SCOUT.](https://mintcdn.com/sourcedock/sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI/images/deep-dives/gate-scanner-in-depth/16-scout-scan-of-9-from-paste.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI\&q=85\&s=8b9959e5deb444a2b057e59984d17205)

Scout's scan of 9, opened from Recent scans. Notice the row has the Scout badge, but the desk says 9 from paste.

If the extension is installed and signed in, the top of this screen says **Extension connected**. The empty page does not show that line.

A scan that ends short of its list shows "This scan stopped at 7 of 12 ASINs. The rest have not been checked, so do not treat them as approved." The 7 is how many verdicts came back. The 12 is how many were queued.

## Answers from the last 24 hours

Say you scan a toy at 9 AM, and Amazon says **Approved**. At noon you paste it again. SourceDock shows the 9 AM answer, and it uses no check. Under the badge, the row says "Checked 3 h ago".

* An **Approved** answer is shown again for up to 24 hours.
* A **Blocked** or **Needs approval** answer is shown again for only 1 hour. If Amazon just approved you, you see it soon.
* An **Error** is never shown again. That ASIN is checked fresh.

Answers belong to one store. Your US store's answer is never used for your Canada store.

A note above the results says how many came back, like "3 of 12 were checked on this store in the last 24 hours. Their answers show again and use no checks." Point at "Checked 3 h ago" to see when Amazon answered.

To ask Amazon again:

* **Check again now** under a row checks just that row. The row stays in place. It says **Checking…**, then **Checked just now**. This uses one check.
* **Check all again now** beside the note checks the whole paste again.

## What each verdict means

The card **What verdicts mean** sits on the empty page.

![A card titled What verdicts mean. Approved in green: You can list it today - safe to buy. Needs approval in amber: Amazon wants an application first - often instant. The extension can check for you. Blocked in red: Amazon isn't taking applications - don't source it.](https://mintcdn.com/sourcedock/GhYYsXkbSDkrf4P8/images/deep-dives/gate-scanner-in-depth/04-empty-page-verdict-card.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=GhYYsXkbSDkrf4P8\&q=85\&s=4df8a3a98b1bdf132e81890383f00283)

The empty page: the What verdicts mean card. Notice the three words, Approved, Needs approval, and Blocked, each with its one line.

**Approved** on the card means **You can list it today - safe to buy.** The row badge says **Approved**. **Auto approve** says **Not needed**, and **Action** shows **Save to Vault**. If your Vault already has the product, it says **In your Vault** instead. With the **Reason** column shown and no note from Amazon, the cell says **Ready to list**. The blender is this row.

**Needs approval** on the card means **Amazon wants an application first - often instant. The extension can check for you.** The row badge says **Needs approval**, the chip says **Needs approval**, and the live dot says **gated**. All three are the same group. The toy truck, the bear, and the fan are this group.

Before you verify, **Auto approve** says **Not checked**, and **Action** shows **Verify** and **Save to Vault** (or **In your Vault**). **Verify** opens the listing in Seller Central. You click through it, and the extension only records what you see. The hint says **Opens this listing in Seller Central. The seller clicks through it; the extension only records the outcome they see.**

You need the SourceDockIQ Chrome extension only for **Verify**. Scanning works without it.

Verify works on the US Seller Central site only. A store in another country turns the button off, and the hint says **Verify works on US Seller Central only**. With no extension, the button is off and the hint says **Connect the SourceDockIQ extension to verify this listing**.

![The Pokémon row with Verify turned off and a hint above it: Connect the SourceDockIQ extension to verify this listing.](https://mintcdn.com/sourcedock/sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI/images/deep-dives/gate-scanner-in-depth/07-poke-balls-verify-hint.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI\&q=85\&s=a79dfd014a9c26935099da277d1e4d49)

The Poké Ball clip set: the hint on Verify. Notice the button is off and the hint asks you to connect the extension.

One Verify runs at a time. While one waits its turn, the button says **Queued**. Then it says **Checking...**, and the **Auto approve** badge can say **Sending...** or **Testing...**. **Your turn** means the next click opens Amazon, and **Open in Seller Central** is that click. **Waiting for you to apply on Amazon** means the page is open and it is your move. **Check again** looks once more. The small x is **Cancel check**.

If Amazon sent an apply link, the row also shows **Apply on SC**.

![Three rows: B075HLZHNG Transformers, B0FLMLN6YN Monster Jam and B0BXSXMQMC Pokémon, each with an amber Needs approval badge, Not checked, a Verify button and In your Vault. The Pokémon row also has Apply on SC.](https://mintcdn.com/sourcedock/sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI/images/deep-dives/gate-scanner-in-depth/06-scan-of-12-needs-approval-rows.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI\&q=85\&s=624414dbf5b6b1264ec6e01c01ee48d3)

The scan of 12: its 3 Needs approval rows. Notice Not checked and Verify on each, Apply on SC only on the Poké Ball clip set (Amazon sent that one a link), and In your Vault, because the demo store saved all three before.

After a verify, the badge is what the extension saw:

* **Auto-Approved** when the detector is sure. Sure means a confidence of 0.9 or more. 0.94 is 94 percent, so the badge says **Auto-Approved** and the small type says "94%". A line under it can say **from a Verify check**.
* Below 0.9, no green badge shows. At 0.86, which is 86 percent, the badge says **Unverified** and **Verify in Seller Central**.
* **Documents Required**
* **Info Required**
* **Not Accepting**
* **Unknown**

The thin bar is the detector's confidence in what it saw. It is not a chance you will be approved. The hover says **Detector confidence in the observed outcome:** and the percent.

A failed verify can say **Not Signed In**, **Grant Consent**, **CAPTCHA Blocked**, **Interrupted**, **Timed Out**, or **Check Failed**. A check that ran out of time says **Timed out** with **Retry**. **Not Signed In** adds **Sign in to retry**.

When Seller Central needs a login, a card shows on the empty page, above the box. It says **Sign in to Seller Central** and **Some ungating checks require you to be signed in to** **Amazon Seller Central**, then **Sign in and retry failed checks.** The results screen does not show this card. You see it after **Scan another**.

**Blocked** on the card means **Amazon isn't taking applications - don't source it.** The row badge says **Blocked**. **Auto approve** says **Not Accepting** before anyone presses Verify. **Action** still shows **Save to Vault** (or **In your Vault**). The lamp and the drum are this group. Do not source them.

**Error** means Amazon did not give a verdict. The row badge says **Error**, and the chip says **Errors**. **Auto approve** shows a dash. **Action** still shows **Save to Vault** (or **In your Vault**), so you can keep the product and scan it again later. The cup and the spoon are this group. Do not treat an error as approved. Run the code again.

![Four rows. B0EXAMPL12 and B0EXAMPL11 with a gray Error badge, a dash, and Save to Vault. B073PP55RN Harry Potter with a red Blocked badge, Not Accepting, and In your Vault. The scan of 12: its 2 Error and 2 Blocked rows. Notice the errors show a dash under Auto approve and still offer Save to Vault, and the blocked rows say Not Accepting. The Harry Potter row is already in your Vault.

The **Reason** column is hidden at first. To show it, open the menu at the right end of the table header. The panel says **Columns**. Tick **Reason** and press **Save**. Amazon's notes are joined with " · ". An error row shows the error words in red. A blank reason on any other row is a dash.

The small arrow by the badge is **View on Seller Central**. It opens Seller Central's product search for that code, on the marketplace of the account you selected.

## Save to your Vault

When the scan is done, you can save right from the results:

* **One row**: click **Save to Vault** in its **Action** column.
* **Many rows**: click the **Approved** chip, then tick the rows you want. The box at the top ticks every row on the page. Then click **Save to Vault** beside **Export**. With rows ticked, it shows how many it will save.

That count leaves out rows your Vault already holds. Those rows say **In your Vault** instead of a button. When a save is done, a note says how many were saved to your Vault.

In the demo store, all 5 approved rows already say **In your Vault**. The demo store had saved them before.

Saved rows come in without a buy cost, since only you know what you paid. Open the **Vault** (press V) and click a row's **Cost** to type it. Until then, the Vault shows no profit or ROI for it.

Every row with an ASIN can be saved, whatever its verdict. A row with no ASIN shows **Save to Vault** turned off. Its hover says **There's no ASIN on this row to save.**

A team member who can't save to the Vault sees **None** in **Action** on an **Approved**, **Blocked** or **Error** row. A **Needs approval** row still shows **Verify**. If they can view the Vault, a product it already has still says **In your Vault**.

## The result table

The table is newest first. Your finished 12 read from the fan down to the blender: 12, 11, 10, 09, 08, 07, 06, 05, 04, 03, 02, 01.

The first columns are **ASIN**, **Brand**, **Verdict**, **Auto approve**, and **Action**. **Reason** is off until you show it.

Click a code in **ASIN** to open the product on Amazon. The copy icon copies it.

The scan of 12: the result table. Notice the columns ASIN, Brand, Verdict, Auto approve and Action, newest first, with the 2 errors on top. Action shows Save to Vault, or In your Vault for a product the Vault already has.

The page size starts at 50. The choices are 10, 25, 50, and 100. The control says **per page**, and its name for a screen reader is "Rows per page".

At 50, all 12 fit on one page. The table foot says "12 verdicts", and the pager says "1-12 of 12". One page has no **Prev** and no **Next**.

![The table foot: 12 verdicts, then Showing 1-12 of 12 and 50 per page.](https://mintcdn.com/sourcedock/sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI/images/deep-dives/gate-scanner-in-depth/10-scan-of-12-table-foot.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI\&q=85\&s=b542017a2119c5d2efff26c68f27895b)

The scan of 12: the table foot at 50 per page. Notice 12 verdicts, Showing 1-12 of 12, and no Prev or Next.

You change the size to 10.

* Page 1 holds the first 10 of the newest-first list, 12 down through 03. The pager says "1-10 of 12" and "page 1 of 2".
* Page 2 holds 02 and 01. The pager says "11-12 of 12" and "page 2 of 2".
* **Next** and **Prev** move one page.

The start of a page is (page − 1) × size + 1, so page 2 at size 10 starts at 11. The end is the smaller of page × size and the row count. Page 1 ends at 10, and page 2 ends at 12.

The box in the header ticks every row on this page. Its name for a screen reader is "Select all ASINs on this page". On page 1 it ticks those 10 codes, not the two on page 2.

The chips do not change when you change pages. **All** stays "12", and **Approved** stays "5".

You press **Approved**. The table keeps the 5 approved rows, still newest first: 11, 09, 07, 05, 01. The foot says "5 verdicts", and the pager says "1-5 of 5". The **Approved** chip still says "5", and **All** still says "12". The chip counts the whole scan. The foot counts the rows the chip is showing.

![The chips All 12, Approved 5 (lit), Needs approval 3, Blocked 2, Errors 2, then Save to Vault (off) and Export (5). Below, 5 Approved rows, each with In your Vault, then 5 verdicts and Showing 1-5 of 5.](https://mintcdn.com/sourcedock/sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI/images/deep-dives/gate-scanner-in-depth/11-scan-of-12-approved-chip.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI\&q=85\&s=6042d210436e60e2fc57dd2728edc603)

The scan of 12 after you press Approved. Notice the Approved chip still says 5 and All still says 12, while the foot says 5 verdicts and 1-5 of 5. All 5 say In your Vault, so Save to Vault beside Export is off.

Changing the chip or the page size takes you back to page 1 and clears every tick. Changing pages keeps your ticks.

## The file you export

The button "Export (12)" downloads every row the chip is showing, on every page. It is not limited to the 10 on screen. The button is not on screen while a scan runs. After you open a past scan, it stays off until all its verdicts load, and the hover says **Scan still running**. A chip with 0 rows turns it off, and the hover says **Nothing to export for this filter**.

The file name starts with the chip, then `-asins-`, then the UTC date. **All** writes `all-asins-` plus that date. **Approved** writes `approved-asins-`, and **Needs approval** writes `needs-approval-asins-`. **Blocked** writes `blocked-asins-`, and **Errors** writes `error-asins-`. On the UTC day 28 Oct 2026, **All** writes `all-asins-2026-10-28.csv`.

The columns, in order, are `ASIN`, `Title`, `Brand`, `Status`, `Reasons`, and `Approval URL`. The rows are in the table's order, newest first.

`Status` is the stored word, not the badge. Your 12 rows use `approved`, `restricted`, `blocked`, and `error`. The toy truck's status cell says `restricted`, while its badge says **Needs approval**.

`Reasons` joins Amazon's notes with a semicolon. An error row puts the error words there. An **Approved** row with no note from Amazon has a blank `Reasons` cell. The table's **Reason** column can still say **Ready to list** for that row, but the file does not copy those three words.

`Approval URL` is filled only when Amazon sent a link you can open on a **Needs approval** row. A **Blocked** row drops that link, so the cell is blank. The header row is plain, and each data cell is in quotes.

The arrow next to Export opens more:

* "Export selected (10)" when 10 boxes are ticked. The file starts with `selected-asins-`. With nothing ticked, it is off.
* "Copy to clipboard (12)" copies the same six columns with tabs, header row too, so they land in a sheet as columns. The toast says "Copied 12 rows."
* "Copy ASINs (12)" copies the codes, one per line. The toast says "Copied 12 ASINs."
* "Copy selected (10)" shows only after you tick a row. It copies those rows with tabs. The toast says "Copied 10 rows."

![Export (12) with its arrow open: Export selected (0) in gray, Copy to clipboard (12), Copy ASINs (12).](https://mintcdn.com/sourcedock/sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI/images/deep-dives/gate-scanner-in-depth/12-scan-of-12-export-menu.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI\&q=85\&s=8fbf627c6aac2d0ef38561d97d406e92)

The scan of 12: the arrow next to Export. Notice Export selected (0) is off because nothing is ticked.

A blocked clipboard says **Could not copy** and **Your browser blocked the clipboard. Use Export to get a file instead.**

Ticked rows follow the chip. On **Approved**, with two boxes ticked, "Export selected (2)" writes those two approved rows.

## Free checks and plan limits

A check is one code in one scan. The 12 codes reserve 12 checks before Amazon is asked.

A paid plan has no daily cap and no per-scan cap. The corner of the box shows the count alone, with no "out of" number. The free-check banner is not shown, and a scan is never refused for a daily limit. The 10,000-code limit above still applies.

A trial gets 1,000 free checks for the whole trial, not per day. A card on file removes the cap, unless your trial is the kind that stays capped until the plan starts. The button tells you which kind you are on.

The banner stays hidden while more than 200 checks remain. At 799 used, 1,000 − 799 = 201 are left. 201 is more than 200, so there is no banner.

You have used 812. You scan these 12. All 12 fit, because 1,000 − 812 = 188, and 12 is less than 188. Used becomes 812 + 12 = 824, and 1,000 − 824 = 176 are left.

176 is 200 or less, so the banner shows. The bold line is "You have 176 free checks left in your trial." The quiet line is "824 of 1,000 free checks used". The button says **Choose plan**. On a trial that unlocks by starting the plan, the button says **Start my plan**.

At 0 left, a normal trial says **Put a card on file to get unlimited access.** and the button says **Add a card**. A pay-to-start trial says "You used all 1,000 free checks. Start your plan to keep checking." and the button says **Start my plan**.

The quiet line at the cap, with nothing waiting, is "1,000 of 1,000 free checks used". The used number never prints higher than the cap.

### A list the cap cuts

You have used 980. You paste 30 codes. Room is 1,000 − 980 = 20. The first 20 run, the other 30 − 20 = 10 wait, and used becomes 1,000.

The live desk shows the banner. Its bold line is the cap line above, **Put a card on file to get unlimited access.** Its quiet line is "10 ASINs are waiting. They run as soon as a card is on file." On a pay-to-start trial, the quiet line says "10 ASINs are waiting. They run as soon as your plan starts."

The desk does not count the 10. Its total is 20, the number that ran. The 10 run on their own once a card is on file, or once the plan starts.

When you go back to the empty page with **Scan another**, one more line shows under the banner: "We're checking 20 ASINs. The other 10 are waiting. Put a card on file to get unlimited access." On a pay-to-start trial, that line ends with "Start your plan to keep checking."

If 0 checks are left and you paste 30, none run now. All 30 wait instead. The banner shows the cap line, and the quiet line says "30 ASINs are waiting. They run as soon as a card is on file." The screen never treats those 30 as approved.

On someone else's account, you see the owner's words and no button. At 176 left the bold line is "The account owner's trial has 176 free checks left." The quiet line is still "824 of 1,000 free checks used". At the cap the bold line is **The account owner's trial used all its free checks. Ask the owner to choose a plan to keep checking.**

Scout's own scans (**Run gate scan now** and **Gate scan all**) spend this same 1,000. The checks Scout runs by itself are free. When the cap cuts a Scout scan, Scout's toast uses the same "We're checking" sentence.

### Cancel and a failed run

You cancel the 12 after 7 answers. Unrun checks are 12 − 7 = 5. On a capped trial those 5 are given back, and the 7 that finished stay used. If you were at 824, the count goes back to 824 − 5 = 819.

A paid plan, or a trial that is no longer capped, gets no number back. There is no cap to refill. A scan that fails gives back only the codes it never checked. A finished scan gives nothing back.

A paused account does not get the scanner. A failed payment shows "Gate Scanner is paused" and **Update payment**. No plan shows "Gate Scanner pauses without a plan" and **See plans**. The next line says nothing was deleted and how to turn it back on. If SourceDock has set a date to delete your Amazon store data, that line gives the date instead.

## Recent scans

**Recent scans** and **Last 90 days** list the scans for the Amazon account you have selected, newest first. A scan from more than 90 days ago drops off, unless it is still queued or running. The list reads your newest 500 scans.

Each row shows the date, the time, and the code count. Your row shows "12". A finished row's small bar uses the same parts as the desk: 5, 3, and 2. Errors are not drawn on this bar. A live row's bar shows how much is done.

A live row says **Scanning**, **Queued**, or "Queued · 2 ahead". The desk uses a hyphen, as in "Queued - 2 ahead", and this list uses a dot. The number is the same. A failed row says **Failed**, and a cancelled row says **Cancelled**. A finished row has no word, so the bar is the status. A Scout row adds the **Scout** badge.

![Recent scans, Last 90 days, Clear, and the box Find ASINs in past scans. An Oct 29 row of 9 with a SCOUT badge, and an Oct 28 row of 12. Each has a small bar and copy, rerun and delete icons.](https://mintcdn.com/sourcedock/sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI/images/deep-dives/gate-scanner-in-depth/13-recent-scans-two-rows.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI\&q=85\&s=526577f79b32e04316da049c15d62fdb)

The demo store's Recent scans. Notice the scan of 9 with the Scout badge, and the scan of 12 from the day before.

The search box says **Find ASINs in past scans**. It waits a third of a second, then looks. While it looks, the line says **Looking…**.

You search B0EXAMPL02.

* No scan has it: **No saved scan includes these ASINs.**
* One scan has it: "1 scan include B0EXAMPL02". The row says "1 hit".
* You search two codes and one scan has either one: "1 scan include at least one of 2 ASINs".

![Recent scans with B0BXSXMQMC typed in the search box. Under it: 1 scan include B0BXSXMQMC. One row, Oct 28, 12, with 1 hit.](https://mintcdn.com/sourcedock/sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI/images/deep-dives/gate-scanner-in-depth/15-recent-scans-search.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI\&q=85\&s=4955acfacbf98ede93657a180884331b)

Recent scans after you search the Poké Ball clip set's code. Notice 1 scan include B0BXSXMQMC and 1 hit on the scan of 12.

The search reads up to 50 codes. A hit is how many of those codes sit in the saved list. A code twice in one scan still counts as one hit.

The search looks at your saved scans for every Amazon account you have connected, not only the one you selected. So the count can include a scan from your other store.

An empty list says **Scans stay here for 90 days. Open one to see its verdicts, or copy the ASINs to run it again.**

Click a row to see its verdicts. The arrow shows or hides the scan's codes. The copy icon puts the codes on the clipboard, one per line. The rerun icon scans the same codes again, and its name for a screen reader is "Scan these 12 ASINs again".

![Recent scans with the Oct 28 row of 12 opened, showing its codes: B08SWNG6PX, B09RFVJ33W, B0FDFFFQ74, B0BNC1CQ8L, B0DH8MTVMR, B0BXSXMQMC, B0FLMLN6YN, B075HLZHNG, B0GVPYQ3HH, B073PP55RN, B0EXAMPL11, B0EXAMPL12.](https://mintcdn.com/sourcedock/sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI/images/deep-dives/gate-scanner-in-depth/14-recent-scans-codes-open.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=sWEnBEBQVmf-kKUI\&q=85\&s=e23d167b7669620ed5e20fa43d01aec1)

The scan of 12 in Recent scans with its arrow open. Notice its 12 codes, from B08SWNG6PX to B0EXAMPL12.

Rerun loads the saved 12, puts them in the box, and starts a new scan. That new scan counts as a paste, so the finished line says "12 from paste". It spends checks again, and it does not reuse the old verdicts.

If the saved list is gone, the toast says **Can't rerun that scan** and **The original ASIN list is no longer available. Paste the ASINs to scan them again.**

Delete asks **Delete this scan?** The text reads like "Removes 12 ASINs saved on Oct 28 at 3:04 PM. This cannot be undone." The button says **Delete scan**. Deleting a scan that is still running stops it first.

**Clear** on the card asks **Clear all saved scans?** The text reads like "Removes all 3 saved scans from your account. This cannot be undone." The button says **Clear all**. That 3 counts only the selected Amazon account's scans, but **Clear all** removes your saved scans for every Amazon account you have connected.

When you come back, the page reopens a scan you started on this screen. A queued or running one comes first. If none is queued or running, it opens your newest one that was not cancelled. A Scout scan is never opened for you. It waits under **Recent scans** until you click it.

Switching Amazon accounts clears the desk. The scan keeps running on the account that started it. If Scout's **Open scan** brings you here and that scan will not load, the toast says **Your scan is queued** and **Open it from Recent scans.**

## Empty screens and errors

> [accordion] The scan could not start
>
> The empty page shows a card. It says **This scan could not be completed**. Then it shows the server's sentence, or **Something went wrong while checking these ASINs.** Then it says **No ASINs were checked, so none of them should be treated as approved.**
>
> The toast says **Scan failed**. The body is that same server sentence, or **Something went wrong while checking these ASINs. Please try again.** If the server sends no clear sentence, the words are **Unable to start the scan. Please try again.** If the page cannot reach the server at all, the words are **Unable to reach the server. Check your connection and try again.**

> [accordion] The scan failed after it started
>
> A scan can also fail on the server after it starts. For a scan you started on this visit, the **Scan failed** toast shows the server's words, such as **Scan gave up after repeated worker failures** or **Seller connection not found**. The row in **Recent scans** says **Failed**. If some answers came back first, the desk shows the "This scan stopped at" line from above.

> [accordion] Nothing came back for 10 minutes
>
> If a scan gets no new answer for 10 minutes while you watch it, the page cancels it. A scan waiting in line is never cancelled: time in line does not count. The 10 minutes start when the scan starts checking, and each new answer starts them over. A scan you started on this visit shows the **Scan failed** toast with **No results for a long stretch - the scan may have been lost. Please try again.** On a capped trial, the unrun checks come back, as in the cancel math above.

> [accordion] You have no scans yet
>
> You see the box, **Recent scans**, and **What verdicts mean**. The recent card uses the empty sentence from the section above. There is no result table until a scan has a verdict or you open one.

> [!WARNING]
>
> An **Error** row and a scan that stopped early are not approvals. The codes that did not get a verdict are still unknown. Run them again, or leave them out of the buy.
