# How SourceDock fits together

> One set of costs and goals feeds every profit you see. Then a product you buy moves from Purchases to Sales and Capital Recovery by itself.

## In short

Your costs and goals live in one place. The Vault, the Chrome extension, the phone's Profit calculator and AlphaChaser all use them, so one product shows the same profit everywhere. When you buy it, SourceDock follows it from **Purchases** to **Sales** and **Capital Recovery** by itself.

Say the demo store's blue hair dye costs \$6.91. With the demo store's goals (30% ROI and \$5.00 profit), every screen says the same thing: \$4.51 profit, 65.3% ROI, and pay at most \$6.42.

![Settings, Used by the Vault and the extension: Used in Vault, Extension, AlphaChaser. Prep per item \$0.00, Inbound shipping per lb \$0.00, FBM shipping cost not set, Sales tax on cost 0, Lowest ROI you want 30, Lowest profit you want \$5.00.](https://mintcdn.com/sourcedock/oxSXCyHv5gieF5LY/images/deep-dives/how-sourcedock-fits-together/01-settings-used-in.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=oxSXCyHv5gieF5LY\&q=85\&s=c35c182a22a6435776e9a75b314ca3b0)

The settings every profit uses. Notice Used in: Vault, Extension and AlphaChaser.

To see where each setting lives, read [Where each setting lives](https://docs.sourcedock.io/guides/settings-map.md).

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Scenario for this page:** two demo store products. The **Arctic Fox blue hair dye** (B07QMZ5JKX) is in the Vault with a \$6.91 cost; it shows the money math. The **DOS card game** (B076MMCQWW) was bought, 40 at Costco for \$400.00; it shows what happens after you buy. Find both in the demo store.

## More details

> [accordion] 1. Your costs and goals
>
> You set them once, in **Account** > **Features**, or in the extension's **Account** tab. Both are the same settings, so a change in one shows in the other.
>
> They hold what you pay to get a product to Amazon (prep, shipping, tax), and your goals: the lowest ROI and the lowest profit you want. The goals decide **Max cost**, the most you can pay and still meet them.

> [accordion] 2. The Vault
>
> The hair dye sits in the Vault with its \$6.91 cost. Its profit and ROI use your settings.

> [accordion] 5. AlphaChaser (Beta)
>
