# Restock reminders

> Get a reminder before a good product runs out at Amazon, with how many to order and when.

Say you bought 200 of a blender, and it sells well. When only 20 are left, SourceDock reminds you to buy more, so you don't run out at Amazon. The reminder also says how many to order and by when.

For one made-up product walked through every setting, rule and number, see [Restock reminders, in depth](https://docs.sourcedock.io/desk/restock-reminders-in-depth.md).

## Turn it on

Go to **Account** > **Features**. Under **Alerts**, turn on **Restock reminders**. Then open the card to pick:

### Products

* **Profitable products only**: only products whose ROI is at least the number in **ROI at least** (5% to start). Leave it unticked to get reminders for every product.

### When

* **My usual lead time** … **days**: how many days it takes you to buy and send more to Amazon. It starts at 21 days.
* Then pick one rule:
  * **When** 10 **% of the units I bought are left**. This is the starting rule.
  * **When stock left lasts fewer days than lead time +** 7 **days**.

### Send to

Reminders always show on the **Alerts page**. You can also turn on **Email** and **Phone notification**.

* For email, also turn on **Optional emails** in **Account** > **Profile**.
* For your phone, also turn on the phone icon on the **Recovery** row of the Alerts settings. See [Phone app](https://docs.sourcedock.io/get-started/phone-app.md#alerts-on-your-phone).

Each product gets one reminder. There is no second, earlier warning.

## Who gets a reminder

A product gets a reminder only when all of these are true:

* It sold at least 3 units in the last 30 days.
* You bought this batch at least 7 days ago.
* SourceDock knows how many units are left.
* With **Profitable products only**, its ROI meets your number, and every sold unit has a cost.

### When it fires

* Percent rule: when the units left are at or under your percent of the units you bought. Say you bought 200 and the rule is 10%. At 20 left, you get the reminder.
* Days rule: when the days of stock left are fewer than your lead time plus your extra days. Say you sell 2 a day and have 40 left. That's 20 days. With a 21-day lead time plus 7 days, you get the reminder.
* **Out of stock**: zero left always gets a reminder.

Days of stock left are the units left divided by how many you sell a day, from your last 30 days of sales.

## What the reminder says

The reminder is called **Reorder soon**. It shows:

* **Left**: what you have, like "40 at Amazon + 20 on the way + 10 ordered = 70".
* When to order: **Reorder today**, **Reorder tomorrow**, or in a number of days. That is the days left minus your lead time.
* A suggested order: about 30 days of sales after it arrives, minus what will still be on the shelf then, rounded up to 5. It is never under 5.

## Where you see it

* **Alerts**: under **Recovery**. Click **Review** to see every product that needs a reorder.
* **Desk**: in **Needs you**, when it is one of the 3 things that need you most.
* **Capital Recovery**: in **Advanced**, a **Reorder** badge sits on the product. The **Reorder soon** chip shows only those products.

Click **Reorder** on a product to set its own lead time, record a purchase, or click **Don't remind me** to stop its reminders. To turn a product back on, go to **Account** > **Features** > **Products you turned off** and click **Remind me again**.

## Plans

Restock reminders come with Capital Recovery, which is part of Pro. A Premier trial has them too. Capital Recovery works on US and Canada stores.
